There is no wrong choice, however, the Sub is the original and stayed true to it's looks/function for the longest time of any model. The Sub Date is fine, but it doesn't have that clean look of an original Sub. MSub8.JPG. I own the Sub and the Bluesy (which has the date). I recently wore the Sub exclusively on a one week vacation and frankly the lack of a date for a week annoyed me. At home, I would just rotate to another watch. Since I already had the date with the GMT, I wanted a little differentiation from that watch. Some people don’t go for the no date because they feel that they need a date on their watch, however, I already have a few watches with no date so I know I won’t miss it. Also, I felt that the no date was nice because of the symmetry.

I put my name down for a new 12xxxx Sub and said I had no preference between Date or no-date, got the call for a 126610. It’s not my first Rolex with a date but it is my first Sub with a date. The date version is the Sub imagined by the vast majority when they hear the word, hence it makes much more sense to say Sub and no date Sub. Posts: 351. I think Rolex did a tremendous service by increasing the no-date models when they added the OP line. Prior to, most people had two realistic options - Explorer and sub (one look and model) as the Daytona was relatively expensive and unavailable. I think people are now more accepting of no-date models.
